Currently Japan sells the controller as part of its Pokken Tournament Wii U Bundle.
Gaming enthusiasts, more specifically Pokken Tournament fans, will be able to capture the luster of the arcade experience in March 2016. Creators of the game will make the specialized controller currently only available Japan, attainable in the west.
The announcement made this week, according to ign.com, says the Pokken Tournament controller will be available for the Wii gaming system. The makers of the controller, HORI, currently has it listed at Amazon for $25. Since its release is slated for March 16, enthusiasts can pre-order it now.
Currently Japan sells the controller as part of its Pokken Tournament Wii U Bundle as well as separately. But there is no word now whether the bundle will be available outside of Japan. Although its packaging remains a mystery, fans of the arcade version are waiting with anticipation to its western release. The arcade version was released in July.
For those who figure they are getting a bargain controller, they probably are. However, don’t think it will work with other Pokken games. The controller is configured to only work with Pokken Tournament and gamers will have to stay pretty close to the Wii since it will not be wireless. Hook it up into the USB port and you’re set to play.
As if they needed much incentive, early launch buyers will receive a bonus card to unlock Shadow Mewtwo. Those familiar with Animal Crossing cards can expect Shadow Mewtwo to work in the same way using the NFC tech found in amiibo.
