The actress enjoys a last-minute celebration with friends and family
Sofia Vergara celebrated her 44th birthday on Sunday with a lemon-themed bash. She was joined by friends and family for the fun occasion in California, including husband Joe Manganiello and 23-year-old son Manolo.
Vergara shared some of the festivities on Snapchat showing Manolo’s attire for the event, partly consisting of a yellow suit with a yellow hat. She also shared pictures of her cake, complete with a giant, edible flower.
Her son also posted an Instagram video wishing his mother a happy birthday:
“Happy birthday, Mom. I can’t believe you’re turning…” Vergara stopped her son from revealing her true age and he wrote, “18. She’s turning 18. #HappyVerde,” the caption read.
She also revealed to Extra that this was mostly unplanned, adding: “I thought I was not going to be in town… I organized something really fast last week, so it’s just going to be, like, a dinner; it’s not going to be that big or that crazy, it’s just going to be simple, because I thought I really was going to be in New York.”
While Vergara makes many sacrifices to maintain her figure, she restraints herself during the week as a means to indulge on weekends. She said, “It’s a reality that you do have to make the effort — things are not in the same place that they used to be… I try not to compare myself to anyone… I work out when I can, I try to eat healthy Monday through Friday, the weekend I eat cake. I love entertaining… I sacrifice myself during the week so during the weekend I can do whatever I want. The way you live in your twenties and your thirties is something that’s going to show when you’re 40.”
