The group refers to Cowell as “Uncle Simon” for everything he has done
Fifth Harmony was Simon Cowell’s creation after the second season of The X Factor USA in 2012. The girl group includes Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui.
They recently had the opportunity to speak to 96.5 Tic FM and expressed how they felt about Cowell.
Kordei said, “He’s such a nice person. People don’t really think that because of what they see on TV, but he’s really such a nice spirit and he really does care about people. He makes sure our business runs the way that we want it to. He always asks our input. We love Uncle Simon.”
The group also feels like they have finally found their voice, as expressed in a previous statement. Jane said, “We finally have a damn voice. We feel like actual artists. We were little babies in the ¬beginning. Now we’re becoming big girls.”
After having performed on The Today Show and many other venues, Fifth Harmony talked about how hard they have worked for success. This was all while Cabello suffered from anxiety during their rise to fame.
“I’ll start with the low because that led to the high. I was having terrible anxiety, nonstop. My heart would beat really fast the whole day. Two hours after I woke up, I’d need a nap because my body was so hyperactive. It was so f***ed up…”
Jauregui got a quick lesson on what the music industry was really about after she thought it would be easy, adding, “They sell you this ¬present of rainbows and butterflies, and as a 16-year-old that’s what I bought. It’s why I did ‘X Factor‘ and why I ended up in a group. But then you’re working so hard, so young. [Meanwhile] my friends are in college, ¬telling me about their days and what they’re studying. You’re having to put on a smile on a red carpet. It’s like, ‘Who am I? Am I for myself or for this?’”
