The rapper was warned against performing songs with explicit lyrics
During a performance in the Caribbean Islands on Saturday, 50 Cent was booked by police for using profanity throughout the event.
According to TMZ, the 40-year-old rapper was warned earlier about using profanity during his set, but he allegedly ignored said warnings. He was later taken to a police station and charged with a minor offence.
The Candy Shop artist cannot leave the Caribbean until after he goes to court on Monday to pay a fine. The amount is currently unknown, but he has repeatedly claimed to be broke in the past. There is no word from 50 Cent or any of his representatives regarding the arrest, but they quickly learned you cannot use offensive language where prohibited.
The rapper had previously posed for photographs with money to help boost his reputation, but filed for bankruptcy a year ago. He defended social media posts in court earlier this year claiming that the photos did not prove he was wealthy and fake money was used instead. This stunt was an effort to promote his Effen Vodka brand on social media, along with his music.
In the court filing, he said, “As a hip-hop artist and entertainer, it is imperative that I continue to project aspirational goals of success in order to preserve my brand and those I represent. What I say and what I do on social media has a direct impact on my music sales and the viewership on my television shows.”
