The model also identifies as “clumsy” despite contradicting opinions
Daisy Lowe, who started her modeling career at age 15, claims that she was always “meant to have curves.”
The 27-year-old model, who began in 2004 under Select Model Management, admits she was not fond of her appearance during her younger years.
“When I was 19 and I split up from my first boyfriend [Will Cameron], I was so devastated I lost two stone. I was eight and a half stone, I went from a D-cup to an A-cup and my legs were sticks. I worked non-stop that year, but I didn’t like it. I didn’t feel like myself. I’m meant to have curves,” she expressed about her body image to Grazia magazine.
Lowe is also unimpressed by the labels often attached to different body types, particular in the modeling industry.
“I hate those labels. You don’t say, ‘white model’ or ‘skinny model’. Why should ‘plus size’ models have a label? They all sell clothes, that’s the job. I’m definitely a feminist. Women should be happy with their bodies.”
The brunette beauty has worked for prominent brands such as Burberry, Agent Provocateur and Ben Sherman. She has been complimented with having a “sexy body” but blames her clumsiness for feeling less desirable.
“I’m told by designers I have a sexy body and I accept that, but I never feel sexy. I’m far too clumsy to be properly sexy, I’m always falling over.”
The model also believes that a classy outfit brings out sexiness more than anything else.
“I used to dress sexily but I’m trying to be a bit more of a lady now – like Katherine Hepburn or Julianne Moore. I love those beautiful classic styles, my favourite designers are Saint Laurent, Christoper Kane, FRAME and Paige Denim. I think ladylike is very sexy.”
