LeAnn Rimes working on new single, opens up about personal life

LeAnn Rimes has been out of the music scene for over three years now. However, the country singer recently signed a new deal with Sony’s RCA UK label and is scheduled to release her first single later in June. The first single is called The Story.

At 33 years old, Rimes has already battled anxiety and depression, leading to her opening up about such issues. The artist spoke about growing up in the spotlight as a child, her well-publicized affair and almost giving up music.

“I lost my mind in private. I’ve gone through a lot, every transition and every feeling that goes along with being a child star. I can see now why at 33 things happened the way they did and all of these lessons I’ve learned. But it was hell at times … (The affair) was a mistake but it also led me to my marriage. I didn’t know how to deal with that and it became this snowball effect,” she told The Sun newspaper.

Through past regret and embarrassment, she’s now happy in her current relationship with Eddie Cirbrian after cheating on her previous husband, Dean Sheremet. The affair was publicly criticized as Cirbrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, appeared on the reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

“I’m very happy now. We’ve been married for over five years and I have my two stepsons, but the shaming thing, that’s where I had severe anxiety and depression.”

Her new single is about “self-acceptance” based on her struggles. She said, “’The Story‘ is a song that resonates with me as WE are all a part of one collective, universal story. I fully embrace the journey I am on and have a deeper understanding of how every piece of my story serves a purpose in my evolution as a woman and an artist. This song is not only a love song but a song of self-acceptance and appreciation for life.”
