Christina Grimmie’s brother: “I'm so blown away by everything right now.”
Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine has offered to cover Christina Grimmie’s funeral costs, according to the late singer’s brother, Marcus.
37-year-old Levine, who routinely coached Grimmie during the sixth season of The Voice, informed Marcus about the generous offer after the singer was gunned down in Florida this past weekend.
Marcus announced the news to fans, saying: “I found out this morning that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for her funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away.”
Adam and his wife have expressed a deep sadness about the tragic news. “Behati [Prinsloo] and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s tragic death.”
He further added: “Our hearts go out to her family. Christina was a natural, a gifted talent that comes along so rarely. She was taken from us too soon. This is yet another senseless act of extreme violence. I am left stunned and confused how these things can conceivably continue to happen in our world.”
Marcus also said that Brian Teefey, Christina Grimmie’s former manager, recently organized a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses.
The late artist’s brother and his family are speechless over the immense support they have received.
“Literally I have no words. I promise both my parents and I will read every one of these personalized messages. I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten. (sic)”
The gunman, identified as Kevin James Loibl, ultimately committed suicide at the scene after the shooting. Although his motive is unclear, police say he had traveled to Grimmie’s concert with the sole intention of killing the 22-year-old artist.
