Bueller? Bueller? Ferris Fest to host various activities and a chance for fans to talk with several cast members.
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around for a while, you could miss it.” That famous line from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off still resonates with those lucky enough growing up during that generation.
For the movie’s 30th anniversary, Ferris Fest is planning a fun-filled weekend from May 20-22 to celebrate its original release date of Jun 11, 1986. Dubbed “A 30th Anniversary Leisure Weekend,” it features various activities throughout Chicago, a screening of the film, along with a Q&A session with several cast members.
With a long list of then-unknown cast members, many which moved on to life-long acting careers, the movie made a string of famous phrases still remembered today. Along with the flick’s three main stars — which included Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara and Alan Ruck — also came a few other “unknowns” who made it big.
Ben Stein (writer, lawyer, and economist at the time) took on the role as the economics teacher known for the famous line, “Bueller … Bueller … Bueller” for a whopping $360. Now a household name, Stein has moved on to many other roles in television and film, including Comedy Central’s Win Ben Stein’s Money. As for other cast members with small roles, these include Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey, who have starred in several iconic movies and television shows throughout their careers.
Expect to see quite a few “Save Ferris” t-shirts at the event, along with some of those famous quotes that are still widely used today among hardcore fans.
