While many fans praised the actress for her comments, others decided to play the race card.
Blake Lively, happily married to actor Ryan Reynold since 2012, dazzled the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in a beautiful Versace gown this week.
The form-fitting, sparkling dress showed off her baby bump. Interestingly, it also revealed a few other assets that have fans all over social media commenting.
The Gossip Girl star posted pictures on Instagram showing the front and back of her gown with the caption, “L.A. face with an Oakland booty.” The infamous line is from the enormously popular song by Sir Mix-a-Lot, Baby Got Back.

The photo and caption received a large number of “likes,” but also drew plenty of mixed opinions due to the comment’s derogatory nature. Many suggested the song Baby Got Back was written to celebrate black women’s bodies. To others, though, the quote meant she looked “glamorous from the front and black from behind.”
Lively didn’t bother to comment and let her followers express their opinions through social media outlets. Sir Mix-a-Lot remains to be heard from regarding the controversy about the famous line that was written over 25 years ago, which is still popular today.
Lively did, however, continue to post images from her time at the Cannes Film Festival. Some showed off her overall style in casual wear with a pair of studded sun glasses. Others portrayed an evening sitting with a blue dress, accompanied by a stunning ring and bracelet.
