The company has worked with the actor/director on his biggest films, including 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Django Unchained.'
The Weinstein Co. has acquired worldwide rights to Quentin Tarantino’s documentary, 21 years. The project consists of a detailed behind-the-scenes look at the director’s work throughout the years. It explores the work involved in pieces such as Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, as well as Django Unchained.
The guys behind The Weinstein Co., Bob and Harvey Weinstein, have a long history with the visionary and his accomplishments. They worked with him on Reservoir Dogs 25 years ago and have had a hand at most other movies, including 2015’s The Hateful Eight.
21 Years is produced and managed by Tara Wood, who had previously worked on 21 Years: Richard Linklater and is currently promoting the next chapter in the franchise in Cannes.
Harvey Weinstein released a statement regarding the project: “Working with Quentin time and time again continues to be one of the highlights in my career both at Miramax and TWC – not only because he’s one of our industry’s true visionaries and auteurs, but because he’s become a true friend to Bob and me over the past 20 years. There’s a universal understanding when you hear the name Tarantino. Tara’s film will give audiences a glimpse into the man we have had the honor of knowing and we couldn’t think of a better home for a film documenting Quentin.”
The deal was negotiated by David Glasser, James Allen, Jennifer Malloy and Michal Podell Steinberg.
Using labels such as “Quentin Tarantino Presents,” the director’s influence in Hollywood has also helped several foreign films achieve greater success by association.
