Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Madonna are only but a few who made a splash at this year's event.
Many celebrities attended the Met Gala on Monday, the fundraising festival that opens for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts’ Costume Institute fashion show. The theme this year was “Manus x Machina,” inspiring stars to wear and showcase futuristic fashion. Many participants chose silver for their color theme.
Personalities known for their signature looks changed their style a bit this year. Sarah Jessica Parker, who often wore a headpiece, traded it in for a Hamilton- inspired look as Andy Cohen escorted her to the event. Other stars such as Madonna, Katy Perry, will.i.am, as well as Willow and Jaden Smith chose black. Kerry Washington followed suit while showing her baby-bump to confirm her pregnancy with her second child.
Lupita Nyong’o chose a stunning green, metallic-inspired gown with a stacked up-do. Beyonce wore a nude, latex Givenchy gown, which some would consider a futuristic, but almost vintage glamour ensemble.
Among the celebrities wearing the go-to color of the evening were Lady Gaga, whom not only wore a metallic dark grey bodysuit and jacket, but high-heeled boots that would make anyone over a foot taller. As always, Gaga was in character to help compliment her outfit. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift wore a silver-scaled mini dress, making her new hair color pop.
The stunning gown worn by Rita Ora resembled silver feathers. Although Kim Kardashian and Kayne West didn’t go completely over the top with her silver gown and West’s metallic silver eye contacts, it was his answers to reporters that caused the commotion by merely replying “the vibe” to everyone who asked a question.
