"Love and Gratitude," Iman shared with the world after David Bowie's passing.
Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid was David Bowie’s wife for 24 years until he died on Jan. 10, 2016 from cancer. The widow has now communicated with fans for the first time since the rock legend’s death.
Bowie had struggled with cancer for roughly one and a half years until he ultimately lost his battle. Fans worldwide, including fellow celebrities, mourned the loss and many expressed their feelings through social media throughout the month.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, Iman contributed along with fans by posting a message that read, “Love and Gratitude – Iman” on Instagram. Earlier in the week, a source had informed E! News that the widow was “very touched by all the support from friends, family and fans.”
Moreover, merely a day prior to her husband’s death, Iman shared a quote by French author Georges Duhamel stating, “Sometimes you will never know the value of something, until it becomes a memory.”
Shortly before Bowie’s death was publicly announced, she had also shared another quote, “The struggle is real but so is God.”
In addition, the widow had reposted a photo on Instagram that actress Zoe Saldana had previously shared. It comprised of a photo of the rock legend along with a quote he gave at a concert celebration at Madison Square Garden in 1997.
“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring,” the quote read.
Inman was also spotted in public walking her dog in New York City just recently, although she has not yet been very outspoken since Bowie’s passing.
Aside from Iman, David Bowie is survived by a daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, 15, and son Duncan Jones, 44.
