Perro Aguayo Jr. died of a wrestling move gone wrong in a tag team match in Tijuana Mexico on Friday night, in a tag team match that featured former WWE superstar Rey Mysterio. Aguayo Jr. was on the receiving end of a low dropkick on the neck from Mysterio that sent him to the ropes leaving him unconscious during the independent show.
Aguayo was taking part in a tag team match with his partner Manik against Rey Mysterio Jr. and Extreme Tiger. After being sent off through the ropes by a spinning head scissors’ from Mysterio, Aguayo got back into the ring but looked wobbly and dazed and a final dropkick sent him to the ropes to set up the 619. Manik also got hit alongside him for the execution of a double 619.
The remaining wrestlers wrapped up the match so that medical staff could attend to Aguayo, who looked unconscious as his body just hung on the ropes. Sources at the hospital where Aguayo Jr. was rushed say he had suffered a cervical spine trauma coming from when the ropes snapped his neck.
In several tweets posted in Spanish, Mysterio could be seen asking why God hadallowed such an incident to occur
Two of the tweets translate as:
Just formed a friendship between brothers who opened years ago, and we should not question the designs of God. But on this occasion I wonder why, and I do not understand it…I take you with me for the rest of my life, rest in peace HijoDelPerro.
