Val Kilmer, the 55 year old ‘Batman Forever’ star was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica on Monday night after the actor began bleeding from the throat, probably due to a tumor. He is said to have undergone an emergency surgery to remove the suspected tumor and is now recovering in the hospital after getting treatment.
Some of Kilmer’s most loved movies include Willow, Top Gun, The Doors, Heat, Batman Forever, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Tombstone, in which he played Wyatt Earp’s right-hand man Doc Holliday. Besides that, he also lent voice to animated Disney film ‘Planes’ and appeared in ‘Palo Alto’ with James Franco and Emma Roberts, and the comedic IFC miniseries ‘The Spoils of Babylon.’
The Santa Monica Fire Department confirmed that a man from Kilmer’s address in Malibu, California was transported to the UCLA after a 911 call late Monday night (January 26). The fire department spokesperson said the man was transported to the hospital via ALS (Advanced Life Support).
ALS paramedics respond to more serious emergencies and can administer IVs, more medications and other support, while private ambulances respond to more minor injuries.
The family of the “Top Gun” star was said to be aware of his condition though he himself has refrained from talking about any health related problem in the public. He was last seen watching L.A. Clippers game about two weeks ago with his son Jack. Kilmer was seen wearing a scarf around his neck in a picture clicked on that outing.
Though the actor’s rep has still not commented on the situation, his fans have not forgotten that he was unable to speak in court over a dispute with his landlord because his tongue was swollen back in October. Many have also drawn attention towards the actor losing weight after having looked ‘heavier’ some time back.
Kilmer was last seen among the headlines in 2013 for his one-man show Citizen Twain. He had transformed himself into Mark Twain in the show which he had also written and directed.
