It’s a big name across the globe, but Apple is yet to make a promising start across the Indian markets. Being the second in global market shares, Apple devices are lagging way behind in Indian markets when weighed against players like Samsung and Micromax.
This seems to have invoked a concern for the Cupertino based company, and Apple has finally decided to push its limits in the Indian market. In a move that could be the first of its major expansion plans in India, Apple is now laying out plans to opening around 500 iOS stores, with an eye to reach out to smaller cities.
The new measures from Apple are now aiming to give out an ample product experience through the new stores with detailed demonstrations.
Though not yet taking a form in an official manner, it is believed that Apple has given the nod for its new plans, which would be taking wings soon.
On the radar are cities like Amritsar, Pathankot, Moga, Coimbatore, Trichy, Nagpur, Nasik and the like. These cities are now being seen as locations for small-scale stores of less than 100 square feet floor spacing.
Redington will be in charge of Apple’s franchise model to be adopted for expansion. Plans are also afoot to get more involved in direct advertising for the Indian markets so that the company can re-write its growth story.
Sales of Apple devices in India have always been around big cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, but the company has never pushed hard to capitalize on the purchasing powers of the smaller city consumers. Things are likely to change now.
