Afghanistan play the UAE in the 4th ODI which is being played at the ICC Global Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai on Dec 4, 2014.
Afghanistan had earned a hard fought victory in the previous game so as to keep the ongoing series alive. And it’s now all up to the final game to decide on whether they could jointly lay hands on the trophy alongside UAE.
But things won’t be easy for the visiting squad despite a confidence boost with their win in the third game.
UAE must still be nursing the despair of letting the match slip out of their hands. With more than six an over required when at the stage where Afghanistan were left with only three wickets, UAE displayed an on-field performance that saw glimpses of misjudgments and overconfidence. If they manage to keep the same off the field, UAE could end the series with a bright note. Follow the live score here.
Skipper Khurram Khan has led the team from the front yet again in the batting front, though his efforts couldn’t be supplemented with the right efforts from his bowlers. It was for the same reason a change was effected when UAE deployed the bowling attack in the third game, which yet is to be blended with the right aggression.
Afghanistan brought in the change with their opening pair, which seemed a good move in the end. Javed Ahmadi filled the dent for lending out the support to Nawroz Mangal, and if the latter keeps the touch which he displayed in the first two matches, Afghan squad will be feeling more relieved
The key will be to gain the early advantage of winning the toss. Batting second have turned out to the preferred choice for both the skippers and neither of them would push forward with a gamble in the last game, which will be deciding the fate of the series
