Hugely awaited Telugu movie “Aagadu” was released across India on Friday, September 19, 2014.
The movie was released in the U.S, yesterday and got a mixed rating and response from first day viewers.
A report in Indian Express quoted producer Anil Sunkara, who has said the screen count of “Aagadu” is highest in the US for a Telugu film ever. The movie is releasing across 159 theatres, surpassing “Rabhasa”, which opened on 125 screens.
Promoted as a highly action oriented film with dose of comedy, the movie stars superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role, while Tamannaah Bhatia plays his love interest.
Other actors in pivotal roles include Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam and Brahmaji. Sonu Sood plays the antagonist in the movie. Babu will be seen in the role of an encounter specialist for this one.
Produced by Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara, “Aagadu” marks the return Mahesh Babu back on screen after “1-Nenokkadine”.
The movie has been directed by Srinu Vaitla, who had worked with Babu earlier in “Dookudu”.
The songs have been composed by S. Thaman. A special item number also features actress Shruti Haasan.
Watch U.S viewers response:
In India, the screen count of “Aagadu” is over 1200, with 297 screens in Nizam. The movie will also open in over 100 theatres in Mumbai, and there are 70 screens in rest of the world.
The 1st day collections should be more than Rs. 8 crores, but can it beat the record set by Pawan Kalyan’s “Attarintiki Daredi” that minted ₹10.75 crore at the box office?
