Joan Rivers, the 81-year-old US presenter and comic artist, is serious ill and is admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where her condition remains serious.
Rivers was going through a medical procedure at a clinic on August 28, 2014, for her vocal chords, when she suddenly stopped breathing. She was then taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
“Her condition remains serious, but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible,” daughter Melissa Rivers said in a statement, which was released by the hospital she is admitted. “We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery,” the statement further said.
Keeping her sudden health crisis in mind, her gig scheduled at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank has been postponed as of now.
Actor Charlie Sheen posted on Twitter, “Please come back to us young lady.”
Courtney Love also wrote, “Hang in there @Joan_Rivers So many awful gowns are going to be worn this year as bait for you pull through. Love and prayers Court.”
Before that New York Daily News had reportedly published that Rivers was placed on a medically induced come, due to a respiratory and cardiac arrest on Thursday.
She had recently filmed for TV show Fashion Police, which is her show. She is also lined up for appearances in weeks to come and has a tour scheduled in October for Britain.
Rivers is often known for her incredible wit and has worked on many shows. She has also been in news for multiple plastic surgeries.
