It’s just been less than six months, and online retailer Flipkart has declared the stop on further sales of Motorola’s Moto G smartphone in India.
Flipkart, which had exclusive tie-up with Motorola for all Moto models, is currently just selling the 16GB version of Moto G on its website. Once the stock runs out, new stocks won’t be made available, says a statement by Flipkart on its website.
The 8GB variant of Moto G had a price cut of Rs 2,000 in July, following which the model ran out of stock and new inventory is not expected at the moment.
As the 16GB variant of Moto goes out of stock, it may mean the end of Moto G era India.
Motorola’s reentry in the Indian market with Moto G surprised everyone as the phone recorded huge sales within days of its launch.
Apart from great hardware and latest version of Android, Moto G came with a stunning price of Rs 12,499. On the flip side, the phone lacked from issues of storage expansion and a camera that didn’t offer quality images as expected.
With launch of Moto E, Flipkart had a hard time meeting the demand for the Motorola models.

The ouster of Moto G is, however, credited to the two new smartphones in the range of under Rs. 15000. The first one comes from Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, which has introduced Mi 3 at an amazing price with better hardware than Moto G.
The other phone that makes a mark in the same range is Asus Zenfone 5, which offers a better camera and has a bigger screen.
Market reports suggest Motorola is already working on new version of Moto G, which may be announced at an event on September 5, where it is expected to launch Moto 360 smartwatch. The new Moto G2 may have a 5-inch screen along with a better camera.
