Even before the case of actress Shwetha Basu has settled down, another South Indian actress is now in the headlines for her alleged involvement in prostitution.
Divya Sri, who shot to fame with the Telugu flick “B.Tech”, was caught at a house in the district of Guntur, along with another fellow actress and models for flesh trade.
The house was raided by the Police following a confidential lead and sources claim that the Police believe actors Pawan Kalyan and Chandu are also active in the racket.
Recently, actress Shwetha Basu was arrested for her involvement in prostitution from a hotel in Hyderabad. The actress, a national award winner as a child artiste, had cited financial stress for taking up prostitution.
She is being interrogated by the police to find out the big fish who are part of the racket. Shwetha is currently housed at a rehabilitation home for women under the surveillance of Police.
While more names might get revealed soon, a major share of the celebrities across the nation seem to be keeping their lips sealed when it comes to this case.
Even Rani Mukherjee, who in her latest movie was seen advocating women’s welfare, has abstained herself from commenting on the issue. Rani Mukherji, who fought for women empowerment in her ‘Mardaani’, has preferred to play it safe when asked about Shwetha being involved in sex trafficking.
However, a few small screen actresses have extended support to Shwetha. Actress Sakshi Tanwar expressed her unease against the media publishing Shwetha’s name while the names of the rest involved in the sex racket were kept hidden.
Sakshi, who has played the role of Shwetha’s mother in a TV series, expressed her concern through an open letter after speaking with Shwetha’s real life mother.
