Actor Alexander Skarsgard, best known for his role as vampire Eric Northman on the HBO series True Blood, has been making the rounds to promote his new film, The Legend of Tarzan.
In an interview with the Australian television show The Project, he made a startling confession about a steamy scene with fellow actor Ryan Kwanten, who played Jason Stackhouse on True Blood.
Skarsgard described the experience after being asked which of three actors was the best kisser. “Out of the three I’ve got to say Ryan Kwanten is surprisingly a good kisser actually. He’s very tender. You wouldn’t think it because he’s kind of a tough guy but very soft, gentle, tender touch,” the actor jokingly said.
For Skarsgard’s new role of Tarzan, he had to lose weight to prepare his body. He said it consisted of eight months “of starvation.” As soon as filming ended, the 39-year-old had a beer and his favorite dessert.
“It’s not a big thing but it’s a British desert and they made a massive banoffee pie the day of wrap. As soon as they called wrap they brought it out.”
The action-packed movie did a number on Skarsgard physically, but the actor explained he was most battered and bruised from love scenes between him and Margot Robbie, who plays Jane Porter in the movie.
He explained, “Margot, she’s quite strong. There’s a love scene where John and Jane return to the jungle and reconnect with the Kuba village, the people that Jane grew up with. And that night it’s kind of the first big love scene of the movie and David Yates our director wanted it to be primal. “He kept egging Margot on. Hit him, scratch him, beat him. I wasn’t severely injured but it was probably the scene in which I got the most bruises and scratches.”
The Legend of Tarzan will be released in July 2016.
