Pregnant pastor’s wife murdered in home invasion near Indianapolis: police

A man is on the run after police believe he shot a 28- year-old pregnant wife of a pastor in the head while burglarizing homes in the area.

The man is believed to have been stealing TVs and other electronics from houses in the relatively quiet neighborhood when he came upon Amanda Blackburn, wife of local pastor Davey Blackburn, according to an Associated Press report.

Amanda Blackburn, who was 13 weeks along in her pregnancy, died a day later after being shot in the head. The couple’s 15-month-old son was in his crib upstairs at the time of the attack, and Davey Blackburn had left shortly after 6 a.m. to work out at the gym. The shooting is believe to have happened shortly before 7 a.m., and the husband discovered his wife badly wounded about an hour later when he returned home.

Surveillance cameras were able to capture the man’s face, but police don’t know who he is and are asking the public for help. He is described as a black male of medium to slim build and 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with an unknown age. He was wearing a hoodie at the time of the burglaries.

Neighbors had spotted the suspect near the Blackburns’ home, and they think he may have seen Davey Blackburn leave.

At least three security cameras had usable footage for the police. The suspect was seen leaving in a dark SUV, which may have been loaded with televisions and a laptop.

Davey Blackburn is the pastor of Resonate Church, which the couple founded in 2012 after leaving their home state of South Carolina.
