A rare security breach has struck Apple headquarters, and authorities believe it came from China.
Customers may have their iPhones and iPads infected with malware that could expose iCloud passwords and other personal data, according to a CBC report.
Apple has removed the applications that snuck into its app store after they found out that some hackers had tricked some Chinese developers into including some malicious code into their software. However, the company isn’t releasing which apps were affected, although reportedly the WeChat app was one of them.
Banks, airlines, and a music service were also affected. Most of these apps were only available on the App Store in China, but some of them were available in North America, including WeChat, CamCard, and WinZip.
If you suspect you may have malware, uninstall the app or update to the most recent version, which was probably released after the malware attack was discovered.
