Most celebrities use social sites to connect to their fans and widen their audiences. The same social networking platforms which help them soar popularity charts and get closer to the ones who swoon over them can be a source of headache too. as Taylor Swift just discovered. The 25 year old woke up on January 27 to discover that both her Twitter and Instagram accounts had been hacked.
Not only had two of her most used social sites been hacked into by two different cyber criminals, they also went on to post terrible things about her. Swift, who is the owner of the fourth largest Twitter account, woke up to see someone sending out a handful of tweets to her more than 51 million Twitter followers from her account. This has made it one of the biggest and most obnoxious breaches in the history of the micro blogging platform.
One of the hackers using the Twitter handle “@veriuser,” tweeted out, “Shoutout @veriuser follow him guys’ Fav when done for a follow… Love you all!!!,” reported the GossipCop.
The hacker then sent out another tweet that read, “go follow my boy @lizzard :)”
The person behind the Twitter handle “@lizzard,” claims on his Twitter account to be the leader of the “Lizard Squad,” and mentions in his bio the hacker groups “Anonymous” and “LulzSec.” He first tweeted humorously, “Yes, I’m currently dating @taylorswift13.”
However, he later made clear that he could cause some harm to Swift. He said that he had naked pictures of Swift and would send them out if he reached a certain goal in Bitcoins. Along with a link to Bitcoin account, @Lizzard tweeted, “Will post taylor swift’s nudes when this btc wallet hits 3btc.”
One of the hackers even posted a picture of a half-naked man perching on a toilet.
Someone acting for the singer- either she herself or her team deleted the shocking tweets from her account within 15 minutes.
After @veriuser tweeted post-hack that “I f*cking love myself,” his account was suspended by Twitter. Additionally, @lizzard’s account was suspended after the tweet about releasing “nudes.”
As if that was not enough trouble for the day, the hackers later claimed they had nude pictures of the singer and said they plan to release them online.
