Maxxzandra Ford, a mom of a 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son, made her first antenatal visit to doctors around 35 weeks during her third pregnancy. Doctors allowed her to deliver naturally, not realizing the size of the baby.
Ms. Ford had been in labor for around 18 hours and just wanted the baby to be born naturally. During the labor she realized her baby wasn’t so little she saw his head coming out. She finally got a baby boy, named Avery, delivered naturally.
Soon after she asked the hospital staff whether anyone know how much her baby weighs? The staff was astonished and expressed that your baby is like adorably huge as Avery weighed 14.1 pounds.
The baby is still under the care of the NICU since his birth on January 29, 2014. Doctors at the hospital say that Avery is doing well and should be discharged soon. Kerry Klecic, a local news anchor, has posted a photo of Avery on Twitter, showing a happy infant sleeping and looking perfectly calm. Avery’s father wants him to play football.
Avery’s birth weight set the record for the heaviest baby ever born at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa Bay and also one of the largest in the Florida’s history. In Texas, Janet Johnson gave birth to a 16-pound baby in 2011.
According to a pediatrics expert Dr. Vincent Iannelli, the average birth weight in the U.S. is generally 7.75 pounds and all babies born over 8.8 pounds are considered “High Birth Weight.”
A neonatologist at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, Dr. Jenelle Ferry told that high birth weight babies have some difficulties getting out of the birth canal. They may face problems with breathing initially and then problems with eating. Dr. Ferry is taking care of Avery at the hospital.
