National award winning actress Shweta Basu Prasad has been arrested for being a part of prostitute racket in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on September 1, 2014.
The 23-year old actress has accepted her involvement in the racket in a statement.
Sweta is best known for her role in “Makdee”, for which she won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

The girls were jointly awarded Best Child Artist at the National Film AwardsShe has also acted in a number of television serials including “Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki” and had moved on to Telugu and Bengali film industries in recent times.
Earlier this week, the actress was found in a compromising position at a famed hotel located in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad with some prominent businessmen from Mumbai. The police had acted on a tipoff, which led to the raid.
Unfortunately, this is the second time that the actress was caught in controversy. Sometime back, Sweta was caught in another act by a Telugu channel in their sting operation.
The actress later on released a statement accepting her fault.
“I have made wrong choices in my career and i was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money.
I was helpless and with no option left to choose, i got involved in this act. I’m not the only one who faced this problem and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase,” the statement raid.
The name of the businessmen found with her are yet to be disclosed.
