Life doesn’t wait for anyone. You got to move on with it, or you will be left behind alone and shattered. One man who never believed in all such rumors was Terry Pratchett. His science-fantasy novels Discworld earned him respect, popularity and most important of all recognition all around the world. Even today, his novels are considered one of the best fiction works in the world. The prominent author kissed final good-bye to everyone on Thursday after fighting a hard battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
His fans are disappointed:
As soon as this news hit the web world, calls and messages from his fans from all corners of the world started flowing in his social media accounts, websites and personal phone. According to Larry Finlay, Managing Director, Transworld Publishers, Pratchett was found dead in his bedroom with his loving cat sleeping on his bed. As per the reports, he sold more than 85 million books all around the world.
Finlay said that the world had lost one of the sharpest, most intelligent and brightest minds. Even though the great man lost his battle with Alzheimer’s, but his legacy will live on for many decades. Pratchett was considered as a tough fighter. When he came to know in 2007 that he was diagnosed with the early-onset Alzheimer’s, he started a campaign to spread awareness about it instead of getting nervous and giving up.
He enjoyed fame all around the globe with his prominent novel series Discworld, which was about the flat world hanging in the balance on four elephants that stand on the hard shell of a giant turtle. His first book named ‘The Colour of Magic’ was completed in 1960s; however, it was not published until 1983. He had managed to finish his 41st book last summer before Alzheimer’s disease took control over his body. His fans posted a lot of quotes about him on Twitter, including his famous line “DON’T THINK OF IT AS DYING,’ said Death.’JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.”
