Bruce Jenner, an Olympic gold medalist, was in one of four cars involved in the crash that killed a woman, according to the Los Angeles County authorities. Art Marrujo, a fire department official, said that the crash happened around 12:12 p.m. on Saturday at the Pacific Coast highway. The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department tweeted soon after that the highway had been closed in both directions.
Police have not released the names of any victims. Jenner’s identity was publicized by several image tweets, showing him at the scene. Witnesses on social media also suggested that Jenner himself was apparently unharmed. While seven people suffered minor to moderate injuries in the crash, Jenner was blessed to walk away unscathed.
Celebrity Gossip and Entertainment News media TMZ reported that Jenner was being chased by five paparazzi at the time of the crash, citing sources close to him. According to some witnesses, the accident occurred when Jenner rear-ended the vehicle in front of his car.
Sheriff’s Sgt Philip Brooks said that the former Olympian cooperated with investigators and voluntarily submitted his blood sample. The tests suggested that Jenner was not intoxicated or under the influence of anything at the time of the crash. He also passed the field sobriety test, proving he was sober behind the wheel.
Matthew Dunn, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant, however, said that he did not know whether Jenner was simply a passenger or he was driving one of the vehicles in the crash. Dunn informed that Jenner declined medical treatment at the scene.
Jenner, 65, won the gold medal in the 1976 Olympics’ decathlon. He renewed popularity once again in 2007, when he appeared in the reality television series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” along with the member of his household. Recently, he made to the headlines when People magazine reported that Jenner is planning to become a woman. However, Representatives for E! declined to comment to Reuters on the People magazine report. Image Credits: Splash News | AKM-GSI.
