The Grammy winner musician Chris Brown has cancelled his Canadian tour dates after the ‘good people of the Canadian government’ refused him entry. The RnB singer who has been convicted for criminal activities in the past apologized to his fans based in the Canadian cities of Montreal and Toronto for disappointing them.

Brown himself took to the social site Twitter to break the news to his fans. In a series of tweets, some of which have since been deleted, he wrote on Tuesday evening: ”Unfortunately I will not be able to perform in front of sold out crowds in Montreal & Toronto.”

“The good people of the Canadian government wouldn’t allow me entry. I’ll be back this summer and will hopefully see all my Canadian fans!”

He has since deleted the posts and gone on to replace them.

As a part of his ‘Between the Sheets Tour’ shows, Brown was set to take to the stage with Trey Songz at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Tuesday (24.02.15) and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Wednesday.

Live Nation, the tour promoter, has since released a statement confirming ”immigration issues” were responsible for the cancellation of the show.

Nicole Perna, a spokeswoman for Brown, confirmed Canadian immigration officials denied him entry and reportedly said Brown can apply to return at a later date and plans to do so.

The singer who did not elaborate upon the reasons of being denied entry by the Canadian government has faced a number of criminal charges in the past. He was sentenced to five years’ probation for assaulting his then partner Rihanna ahead of the Grammys in 2009 and then jailed for a month in April 2014 after being expelled from a rehabilitation centre.

He pleaded guilty to an assault charge in October and had his probation revoked on 15 January by a judge in Los Angeles for failing to complete his community service requirements.

Not only that, there have been controversies regarding his shows and performances as well. Five watchers were shot at during his performance in San Francisco in January.
