It finally happened after two days when Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal tried to hug Angelina Jolie, after emails between her and a leading producer emerged, where the actress had been “spoiled brat”.
The producer here is Scott Rudin. She has produced films like Moneyball and The Social Network and had made comments in her email exchanges with Ms Pascal.
The emails were targeted by a hacking group named Guardians of the Peace, which is suspected to have links with North Korea. The group apparently has gathered and leaked huge data and information from computers of Sony.
Two days after the emails emerged, Jolie came face to face with Ms Pascal at the “The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast” on December 10, 2014.
Mr Rudin had apologized on December 11, saying that the emails were in haste and she didn’t mean or intend to offend anyone. The emails also had talked of President Obama’s taste of movies.
Rudin also called the remarks as “thoughtless and insensitive” and said that those were not funny, and she regrets the same.
The whole controversy didn’t end there. Sony was soon to release a statement, and Ms Pascal has accepted the emails as written by her.
She also accepted to take the responsibility of the emails written by her and apologized to one all and all, who felt offended. Certainly, this is was quite a good way to mend things.
She also called her own remarks as “insensitive and inappropriate”.
