Festivals are an integral part of India and with the onset of the most pious time of the year.
Indians are overjoyed and are celebrating Mahalaya, which marks the new moon seven days before Durga Puja in India.
Today, September 23, 2014, India is again being mesmerised by the melodious voice of playwright actor and director Birendra Krishna Bhadra who passed away more than two decades ago.
The All India Radio continuing its trend since 1931 played the ‘Mahisasura Mardini’ in the impeccable and inimitable style of the famous director Bhadra which are an indication of the power and enormity of Goddess Durga.
With Durga Puja celebrations sending positive vibes all across the subcontinent there is high spirit and enthusiasm in people.
On this very occasion, PM Modi greeted the people of India and wished that the festive season would bring peace and prosperity in each one’s life.
In the PM’s words, “Shubho Mahalaya! May this festive season enhance the spirit of joy, peace and prosperity in our lives.”
The country is also excited for the Navratras that form an integral part of the Durga Puja, which incorporate Dandiya Ras and Garba dances in Gujarat and the rest of the country.
It is a relieving break for people who get some time to relax and enjoy with their respective families and friends.
India is a country of varied cultures and religions. It celebrates every festival with full customs and one can see fun and frolic all around. Everyone makes their wishes to the almighty and he being the generous one never disappoints the people who believe in him.
