Aiming for a series win, Pakistan has started their proceedings in full swing in the first Test against New Zealand.
The hosts have scored 281 runs with the loss of 3 wickets at the end of first day, and they will be aiming to take the score above the 500 mark before the evening tea break of the second day.
Mohammad HafeezMohammed Hafeez (178) and Misbah Ul Haq (38) will be starting the innings for Pakistan in the second day.
Earlier, Pakistan who batted first lost their first wicket in a score of 44. Opener Shaan Masood was clean bowled in a Mark Craig delivery, and it added tensions in the hosts’ pavilion.
After the dismissal of Masood, Mohammed Hafeez joined hands with Azhal Ali and built a partnership of 87 runs.
Younis Khan who batted in the fourth position failed to impress, and he was dismissed for a meager five runs.
But from then, Pakistan showed their class and mettle, and Hafeez along with Misbah built an unbeaten 121 run stand. Hafeez literally punished all New Zealand bowlers, and he scored his 178 in just 262 balls.
Mark Craig was the pick among the lots in New Zealand bowling line up as he picked two wickets by conceding just 67 runs.
Veteran bowler Daniel Vettori who made a comeback in the third test managed to grab the vital wicket of Younis Khan.
