On December 11, 2014, the 72nd Golden Globe nominations for 2015 were announced amidst a lot of expectations and speculation. This probably unofficially starts the award season in Hollywood.
The Golden Globe Awards is an event by Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and for the third time, hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will take the stage and entertain the audiences.
There are 25 categories in the entire event, of which 14 are meant for movies, while 11 awards are for television.
In the movies, it was “Birdman” that seemed to be the flavor of the award season with seven different nominations.
The Best Motion Picture in the Drama section has nominations of “The Theory of Everything”, “Foxcatcher”, “Boyhood”, “The Imitation Game”, and “Selma”.
Steve Carell, David Oyelowo and Benedict Cumberbatch have been nominated for best actor category, while “Cake” actress Jennifer Aniston, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike and Reese Witherspoon have been nominated for the drama section in Best actress category.
Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren, Quvenzhané Wallis have been nominated under the Best Actress category in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
Julianne Moore has been nominated in both best actress categories.
For the Best TV Series, Drama category, “Downton Abbey”, “The Good Wife”, “The Affair”, “House Of Cards” and “Game of Thrones” have been nominated.
Kelsey Grammer’s daughter Greer Grammer will be the Miss Golden Globe 2015.
The 72nd Golden Globe Awards will be live on NBC on January 11, 2014 at the Grand Ballroom of Beverly Hilton Hotel at 8 p.m.
The award season will be in full swing on January 15, 2015 when the Academy Award nominations will be announced.
