Karl Urban stole a Starfleet insignia from the ‘Star Trek Beyond’ set

Karl Urban is among the cast of Star Trek Beyond, playing the role of Dr. ‘Bones’ McCoy.

The 44-year-old actor recently admitted he could not resist finding mementos from the film when the cameras were off. Confessing to Bang Showbiz, he said: “Did I steal anything? I may have yes… I might have stolen a Starfleet insignia.”

After working on the three movies in the franchise, he now shares a close bond with fellow actor Zachary Quinto, who plays the iconic Spock. Urban appreciates the way his friend works and admires his approach.

He said: “We had a great time working with each other, a lot of fun and I think we grew closer as a result and came to really appreciate each other’s approach.”

Urban was also thrilled when he saw the script for Beyond, as the latest film had a much bigger role for Dr. McCoy. This, in turn, would allow fans to see a more developed character in the story.

The actor explained: “I was really happy when I read the script; I get a lot more to do in this film. I think that the fans came out of the last one and made their voices known that they wanted more and thankfully Simon listened to them and I got some fun stuff to do. It’s one of the most well developed version of the character out of the three films.”

Though best known for his role in the Star Trek films, Urban has had major roles in a number of films such as the upcoming Thor, Dred, The Loft, and The Bourne Supremacy.
