A man by the name of Mark Bibbee has reportedly made threats against George Clooney and his wife Amal, leading the actor to obtain a restraining order.
The Ocean’s Eleven star was forced to look into legal protection against the stranger, who is currently in a mental institution following a bipolar diagnosis and potential schizophrenia. The actor’s team had received 189 pages of “rambling, delusional and disturbing” documents from the troubled patient.
Such details also included a plot to assassinate President George H.W. Bush along with pageant queen Jonbenet Ramsey back in 1996.
This information, which came in the form of emails, also referenced the recent Orlando club shooting. It partly read, “Orlando is a false flag event to cover for LGBT criminal & paedophiles.”
A judge ordered Bibbee to stay 100 yards away from Clooney and Amal, and to not contact them or their team again.
Clooney, 55, recently revealed to find fame “suffocating” but is happy to use his status to highlight social and global injustice.
He stated: “Fame has an interesting element to it but if you tend to be followed round by a camera then you can feel suffocated at times. I thought it might be effective if I went to those places and got those cameras to follow me and try and amplify these stories of people who were doing such hard work, such dangerous work.”
Clooney is widely known for various charitable contributions and uses his prominence to fight inequality. Amal is also a strong campaigner for the cause and is said to be popular among Armenians thanks to her work, as the two had recently discussed these issues in an Armenian genocide prevention forum.
