Kristen Stewart has expressed a desire for a female James Bond, with friend and fellow actor Nicholas Hoult backing her opinion.
The 26-year-old star is willing to replace Daniel Craig as the popular spy, claiming she would be a good choice for the role.
Her idea goes against critics that insist Bond should be played by a white male. Nicholas Hoult recently stated: “We’ll walk into the screen test and I’ll see you dressed in a tuxedo. I’ll be like, ‘Kristen, what are you doing here?’ I’ll just turn around and walk straight back out.”
Stewart proceeded by adding: “What? Is this weird?”
The Twilight actress has even come up with an idea to introduce a female Bond to audiences, telling E! News: “You start off as the Bond girl and then you think it’s just the girlfriend and then you’re like, ‘She’s actually [Bond]’. In the trailer, it’s him and then [a] bait and switch.”
Needless to say, 26-year-old Hoult was impressed, adding: “I’ll be like your Q.”
Despite being linked with the role, Hoult believes he is still too young to play the part. Instead, he has backed Idris Elba to step into Daniel Craig’s shoes as an alternative.
“I think I’m a little bit too young to be honest. He’s like 30s or 40s. [Bond] was a hero growing up, I loved watching the films and I enjoyed Daniel Craig, but I don’t think I’m really in the running for it. My vote would be for Idris Elba,” he stated.
Tom Hiddleston is rumored to be a favorite to continue the role, and some say he is already preparing and training for it.
A source recently said: “Tom Hiddleston is already bulking up for the Bond role on a special diet. His new physique has been noticed by the bosses who now have him at the top of their list to replace Daniel Craig.”
