Scarlett Johansson has just beat out big names like Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett for all-time film revenue as the 31-year-old reportedly made $3.3 billion dollars to date.
This not only makes her the only woman in the top 10 list, but the youngest actor to be ranked among the top 10 highest paid actors, according to Box Office Mojo.
The large amount of income includes all 37 movies Johansson starred in from 1994 until now. Her first film was North in 1994, directed by Rob Reiner. She later starred in Manny & Lo, which boosted her career and led to a large number of prominent roles in over 20 years.
The highest paid actor of all time is currently Harrison Ford, who made a total of $4.87 billion from 41 films. In second place was Samuel L. Jackson with $4.64 billion from a whopping 68 films. The top five also included Morgan Freeman, with $4.34 billion and Robery Downey, Jr. with $3.94 billion.
Meanwhile, the top 10 includes Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy and Sir Michael Cain. The next woman on the list is 43-year-old Cameron Diaz at number 19, earning $3.03 billion from 34 films to date.
Speaking about the gender gap in Hollywood, which has been publicized by celebrities such as Jodie Foster, Johansson said, “There’s something icky about me having that conversation unless it applies to a greater whole. I am very fortunate, I make a really good living and I’m proud to be an actress who’s making as much as many of my male peers at this stage. I think every woman has [been underpaid]. But unless I’m addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It’s part of a larger conversation about feminism in general.”
