Johnny Depp to sell classic art collection

Johnny Depp is reportedly about to auction his nine Jean-Michel Basquiat painting collection from June 29-30.

Most pieces date back to 1981 and are said to have taken about 25 years to finish. The reason behind this move is not yet known.

The auction house in question estimates the paintings to earn the actor between £4 to £6 million. It was also noted that Depp had planned the auction for months, implying this move may be unrelated to his ongoing troubles with actress Amber Heard.

As Depp prepares for the big sale, other celebrities are at odds with him due to his reported erratic behavior toward Heard.

Aside from these paintings, the 53-year-old actor is making headlines while in the middle of a controversial divorce. iO Tillett Wright recently claimed that the actor’s wife had been attacked many times prior to making headlines about the scandal.

Tillett disclosed most of this information on a blog post, adding, “I called 911 because she never would. “I was on the phone with both of them and heard it drop, heard him say, ‘What if I pulled your hair back?’ and her scream for my help, I wondered like so many times before if I should break the code of silence that surrounds celebrities and invite the police into the situation.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star had also fled to a privately-owned island in the Bahamas to escape the ongoing events, People reported. Depp bought the 45-acre island in 2004 for 3.6 million.
