After reports of Joe Manganiello being hospitalized in mid-April, speculations rose about the nature surrounding the matter. Wife Sofia Vergara was tight-lipped about his recent stay, but TMZ reported the actor needed emergency surgery after suffering from acute appendicitis. This condition requires having the appendix surgically removed.
Moreover, surgeons reportedly realized his appendix had burst, thus requiring more extensive surgery and recovery. Manganiello then had to cancel an event as a result, which only fueled speculation and concerns about his questionable health.
Last weekend, however, Vergara posted an Instagram picture of themselves enjoying an afternoon snack with the caption, “Afternoon tea.” Since Manganiello hasn’t been seen for approximately six weeks, it was a relief for those concerned about his overall conditions. Vergara continues to reassure fans the actor is on the road to a full recovery.
Earlier in May, Vergara told Extra, “He’s okay. He’s good. It’s fine. I knew what he had. Everybody goes to the hospital once in a while.”
After Manganiello admitted his “celebrity crush” of Vergara to People, the two had a whirlwind romance and eventually married in November 2015. Today, they are one of the most sought after couples in Hollywood.
The 39-year-old actor is also an avid fitness guru whom had opened up about alcohol addiction several years ago, indicating that this indirectly helped him become the man he is today. One of his most recent appearances include Magic Mike XXL, as well as Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.
