Drake’s ‘SNL’ monologue raises more questions about dating Rihanna

Drake recently showed the world his acting and comedic abilities during Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) opening monologue this weekend, which he hosted and served as musical guest. Due to ongoing rumors and speculation about him and Rihanna secretly dating, he felt compelled to touch on that subject to clear the air.

His monologue poked fun at himself and the 28-year-old sensation, also joking about how the ongoing memes making fun of his facial expressions made him feel. “If I’m being real, it hurts. It seems like this keeps happening to me.” He followed it up by expressing his feelings through music and singing about how he’s more than a meme.

Toward the end of his monologue, Drake put on a wig and impersonated his supposed love interest singing Work, but subsequently changed the words to say her and Drake are only “frien frien frien frien friends.”

The rapper/R&B singer appeared clean shaven for the first time in a while, which took many fans by surprise. He then appeared in several skits and performed two of his new songs, One Dance and Hype. These appearances included performances on SNL’s Black Jeopardy, where he played a black Canadian while cast member Kenan Thompson poked fun at his roots.

Previous performances of Drake and Rihanna showed they have strong chemistry onstage. Although they hinted to possibly be dating as far back as 2013, Drake had told Ellen DeGeneres that he will “always support and have love for her.” He also told Rolling Stone that they have fun, but they are just friends. Moreover, Rihanna’s video for her new single, Work, has people and the media talking again due to Drake’s prominent appearance in it.
