In Gwyneth Paltrow’s cover story for Red Magazine, the actress decided to open up about her divorce from long-time husband Chris Martin. Although it has been over two years since the two announced they were splitting, the divorce is still on many people’s minds after telling the media they were “conscious uncoupling.”
Both continue to be open about their responsibilities and the co-parenting of their two children. Paltrow and Martin made it a priority to put their kids above everything else, including their own feelings.
“We loved each other very much and we still do love each other and we have these two beautiful children together,” the actress said in the interview.
She continued, “Time is an important part in it as well. We had broken up a year before we announced it, so we would have this time to work through everything.”
The 43-year-old actress then revealed to Red, “It’s also almost about having to press the ‘override’ button whenever you feel angry or jealous or whatever, broken-hearted. You have to press the button – I’m going back to the baseline of I love this person, he’s the father of my children, he’s a wonderful man. I’m just going to put my s**t aside for right now.”
Paltrow then revealed her current feelings for her ex-husband Martin, saying he was “like her brother” and family forever. Finally, she admitted that this wasn’t the outcome they were expecting, but both of them did the best they could do.
