Beyoncé’s new album raises questions over mysterious Becky reference

After much anticipation and speculation about Beyoncé’s new album, Lemonade, everyone wants to know who “Becky with the good hair” actually is. Her latest release is a visual album which includes a recent HBO special.

The package primarily contains songs about cheating and forgiveness. While the power couple of Beyoncé and Jay Z keep much of their private life out of the spotlight, many feel this album covers Jay Z cheating on Beyoncé at some point during their marriage.

Some notable personalities have acknowledged the album and poked fun at the controversy. Fashion designer Rachel Roy posted an Instagram photo that read, “good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”

Roy later told People, “I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”

Another rumored Becky is Rita Ora, a British singer and actress, who was signed by Jay Z to the Roc Nation record label in 2008. However, ties have been cut between Ora and the label, who filed a law suit against Roc Nation a few months ago.

Ora took advantage of the rumors by wearing the Gucci outfit that Beyoncé wore in her Formation video and posting an Instagram photo of her wearing a bra with lemons embroidered on it. She since attempted to put an end to the rumors following these stunts.
