Celebrate IHOP’s National Pancake Day on March 8 by visiting the restaurant for a free short stack of its buttermilk pancakes. Participating restaurants across the U.S. will be offering the deal from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It should not be too difficult for pancake aficionados to find a deal, as there are over 1,600 IHOP restaurants around the world.
“Pancakes with Purpose,” the IHOP website announces. The restaurant has raised nearly $20 million for charity since it began the pancake national celebration in 2006. Tuesday’s guests are asked to make a donation to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospital for Children, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or another of their favorite local charities.
IHOP President Darren Rebelez said in a statement that “Every pancake we give away has a purpose on National Pancake Day.”
IHOP restaurants typically give away millions of free pancakes on National Pancake Day. According to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals website, 100 percent of the donations received go to local charities to provide critical care, life-saving procedures and vital equipment for sick and injured children.
Participation in Pancake Day has become international, as restaurants in Mexico, the Philippines and Canada are also participating to raise money for local charities.
IHOP’s goal for the 2016 National Pancake Day event is to raise $3.5 million.
