Although the names are still being developed, it is looking as though consumers will have four new iPhones to choose from by the end of 2016. The first to arrive will be the affordable iPhone SE, expected to be unveiled on March 15. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, along with the iPhone pro are expected to be released simultaneously early in the fourth quarter of the year, which is typical for Apple. Here are preliminary expectations for the new devices according to Valuewalk.
iPhone SE: This iteration of the popular iPhone will be significantly smaller and more affordable than recent releases, measuring only 4 inches. Expect spec improvements within that smaller package, however. A faster A9 processor and M9 chip will ensure top performance. Apple Pay will be central, and an included NFC chip makes the feature available from day 1. The iPhone SE should offer the best camera available in the affordable smart phone range, with capabilities that rival the iPhone 6s. It was reported previously that this iPhone would come out as iPhone 5SE (SE stands for Special Edition).
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus: One of the central new features will be waterproofing and dustproofing. These devices will also be particularly well-suited to health tracking. Expect to the lose the headphone jack in these designs, as they will rely on wireless technology. It also appears that the iPhone 7 models will be the first ever full HD smartphones from Apple. A quad HD iPhone 7 Plus is also a possibility.
iPhone Pro: It is not yet clear how this model would differ from the iPhone 7, except for featuring dual-cameras. It may have a larger screen size, and Apple may even be considering a curved screen.
