Netflix has gotten into the habit of resurrecting older television shows over the years, with Arrested Development and a new version of Full House as prime examples.
Now Gilmore Girls is making a return to the prominent streaming service and most of the cast is set to make an appearance. The latest member to break the news is Liza Weil, reprising her role as fan favorite Paris Geller for the limited series revival. The actress simply told E! News, “It’s happening!” while at the Savannah College of Art and Design television festival.
“I start on Tuesday, which I really feel like bodes well that I get to start on a Tuesday being that we used to be on a Tuesday,” she enthusiastically stated. “Tuesday is my first day and I’m nervous!”
However, Weil will not take part in every episode, currently consisting of only four and taking place over the course of one year within the show.
Show creator Amy Sherman Palladino is also penning the new installment. Weil expressed her emotions once she read the script and learned about Palladino’s involvement. “It’s very emotional to read them,” Weil said. “It’s like a really magical perfect time machine. I’m very happy to be a part of it.”
The Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder actress also recalled how much she had missed her old character, stating, “It was like I didn’t realize how much I missed her…it was nice to sort of see an old friend.”
Other cast members include Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop and several more.
Gilmore Girls began filming earlier this year, according to the actress and other sources. Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date.
