Why shave when you can laser away your stubble?

If shaving gives you beard burn, if you have sensitive skin and hate the cuts and scrapes attendant with shaving, or if you’re just tired of the waste created by disposable razors, two innovative entrepreneurs may have the solution you have been looking for.

The Skarp laser razor uses cutting-edge (pun intended) technology to end the downsides of your daily shaving routine, according to an NBC News story. More than a decade in development, two Swedish designers Morgan Gustavsson and Paul Binun expect to launch the Skarp next spring.

The Skarp works by targeting light-absorbing particles in hair that are destroyed when hit with a certain wavelength of light. A challenge in the development was to find the right light spectrum for both light and dark hairs, but the designers have overcome this obstacle.

A Kickstarter campaign by the Skarp team has far exceeded its goal, raising over $790,000 after starting with a target of $160,000.

The Skarp runs on rechargeable batteries and promises to last 50,000 hours. In addition to creating no waste, the Skarp works without shaving cream or water, thus cutting down on resources as well as being environmentally friendly. Consumers can pre-order a Skarp for about $160, with prices at retail expected to be somewhat higher.
