Two new teasers have been released for the upcoming season of American Horror Story. Aside from being absolutely terrifying, the trailers give viewers their first look at Lady Gaga, who will be playing the role of Countess Elizabeth in the fifth season of the show, which has the subtitle of “Hotel”.
Gaga was spotted earlier this week shooting scenes for the new season of American Horror Story on location outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The scene being shot appeared to be a black tie party, with Gaga dressed in a red cape gown with a metallic piece wrapped around her left arm.
Video shot by a fan of Gaga filming at the museum has led to speculation that the new season of American Horror Story will take place in the present day. FX President John Landgraf has previously expressed “hope” that the new season would have a modern day setting, but the network has yet to reveal any specifics about the era of Hotel.
What we do know is that Lady Gaga will be a centerpiece of the season, as she portrays the owner of the hotel that is the setting for season 5. Ryan Murphy, the show’s co-creator, has described Gaga’s character as “a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people.” Murphy also mentioned that Countess Elizabeth “has a nefarious plan that’s revealed in the first episode.”
Season 5 of American Horror Story will return several of the same cast members from previous seasons such as Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, Evan Peters, and Chloe Sevigny. Meanwhile, Gaga and New Girl co-star, Max Greenfield, are among the actors joining the show for the new season. However, Jessica Lange will not be part of the Hotel season, despite appearing in the previous four seasons of American Horror Story.
The season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel is set for October 7 on FX.
