Washington – Aaron Schock who is the U.S. Representative, a Republican from Illinois and who has been a rising star in House Republican circles has announced his resignation from the congress. The resignation is effective from March 31st.
The resignation comes amidst a series of reports questioning his use of taxpayer dollars. However, he indicated that he had chosen that path with a heavy heart and though he had not notified any House Republican leader, he said that he had put the best interests of his constituents and the House first.
His statement stated, “there has been a great distraction over the last six weeks as a result of constant questions, which has made too tough for me to diligently serve the people with the standards they deserve”.
While Schock’s resignation may bring to an end an Office of Congressional Ethics inquiry whose probe would be done by the House Ethics Committee, the same may not completely bring to an end an enquiry by the Federal Election Commission or the Justice Department.
Schock with his 33years was the youngest member of the House having come to Congress in 2009 and at the age of 27years and rocketed to Congress in less than a decade.
Shortly after, he was swimming in power and prestige over and above the prominence of the National Political scene. Considered a rising star in politics reports have it that as at the end of last year, he was eyeing for a House GOP leadership table seat.
However his crave for a good life which had brought along many allegations and accusation and which required a lot of accountability had pushed him to the resignation bench. POLITICO is already up in heels over thousands of dollars that were said to have beenrefunds he received from his campaign and federal government for mileage using his personal car.
Never the less, Randy Hutgren has wished Schock all well Regardless of the circumstances surrounding his departure.
