Google has introduced a new Chromebook 2015 that is not sleek and beautiful but has also been packed with some serious power under the hood. The Chromebook was first launched exactly two years ago, in a beautiful body, but wasn’t practical at all.
The new Chromebook 2015 is built on the same concept but is more sleek and portable. It features a machined aluminum body, which gives it a look that is a perfect blend of rigid as well as elegant. With its pixel dense screen, which easily outperformed a retina display on the MacBook, it is indeed a thing of beauty. Although the price of the Chromebook is reduced to $999, which is way more expensive than what it has to offer.
The Chromebook runs on the Chrome OS operating system, which many people found inconvenient as it doesn’t give the option to run any other app that can on another standard operating systems like Mac or Windows. The battery life of the book is merely 4 hours, which is something not expected in a $999 machine.
In terms of hardware, it features the new USB Type-C ports, except which, the design is pretty much similar to the previous Chromebook. It is built in an Aluminum body, which is better than a MacBook’s in some ways, one of which includes that feels heavy in-hand because it has a softer finish and a denser body. But in fact it weighs less than the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, which is 3.48 pounds while the Chromebook is 3.3 pounds.
The pixel compact display has the resolution of 2,560 x 1,700, with an impressive pixel density of 239 PPI, which outperforms the 13-inch Retina display MacBook Pro, which has 227 PPI.
The Chromebook is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor from Intel’s latest fifth generation of Core CPUs. The base model features a 2.2GHz 5th-Generation Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, for $999. People can also buy the Chromebook Pixel LS for $1,299: that has 2.4GHz Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
