Not everyone was apparently impressed by Beck walking away with this year Grammy’ award for the album of the year, with Kanye West giving the clearest of indication that he was not impressed. Having already stepped onto the stage when Beck was accepting the award West went on to tell E! That the award should have gone to Beyoncé.
West is reported to have told E! That his appearance on stage was not a farce reiterating that if the Grammy’s want real artists to keep coming back they need to be serious. West is reported to have also said that Beck needs to respect artistry and should have forwarded the award to Beyoncé. West on his defense reiterated he did not say that Beck was not an artist but rather criticizing the Grammy’s organization.
Beck has remained gracious even after Kanye popped up on stage as if he was to take the award from him. Beck is quoted as saying that West deserved to be on stage as much as anybody else considering the amount of records he has put out in the last five years.
In a twist of events Beck has sided with West reiterating that Beyoncé should have won the Album of the year award also stating he does not bore any grudge against West. West remarks and actions during the big day have not gone well with a number of people with Shirley Manson stating the hip-hop guru was out of order for ranting about Beyoncé losing the Grammy.
Manson on an open letter posted on Facebook said West was the one disrespecting artistry reiterating he was disrespecting his own remarkable talents and most importantly the talent, hard work and tenacity of a man like Beck. Manson aired the remarks even as his rock band ‘Garbage’ has never won a Grammy.
